Best college basketball coach now that knight is gone?

who will catch his knight's 902 wins? at the moment here are the closest competitors and their ages(knight is 67):

1) Eddie Sutton, 799, 71

2) Mike Krzyzewski, 792, 60

3) Lute Olsen, 779, 73

4) Jim Boeheim, 764, 63

5) Jim Calhoun, 764, 66

Keep in mind, this is only division 1. Also Coach K has had cancer issues several times in his career, so it could pop up again.

Health doesnt determine how great of a coach someone is...so its definitely Coach K of Duke. And even if it does knowing that Coach K is in the toughest conference (i think) of all NCAA basketball the ACC. Thats just more of the reason why i say its Coach K.

The best coach is Coach K and he will most likely end up having more career wins than Knight
Best coach is Thad Matta and was Thad Matta before knight was gone.

How popular is basketball in canada?

Do the people of Canada follow the nba orcollegebasketball? Do people even care about the toronto raptors? Is there a liking for basketball in Canada? Are canadians proud of steve nash ? silly questions, but I was just wondering.

How popular is basketball in canada?nba championships

We have a strong affiliation with Basketball, especially since it was invented by a Canadian. May not be as popular as hockey here but we know our sports and sports heroes.

How popular is basketball in canada?nba game ,nba teams

Basketball? Never heard of it being so isolated from the rest of the world and stuff, don't get cable in my igloo, ahd to walk 40Km dodging polar bears to get to nanook's to borrow her computer and answer this question.

Kidding, sorry. Basketball is big in Toronto as it's the only NBA team in Canada, but Hockey is still the most watched and followed sport here, even curling at the Olympics or Scott's Tournament of Hearts, and lacrosse plus the CFL would probaly rank higher in tv viewing
Since having a pro b-ball team is fairly recent the fan base is young and urban. The Raptors have a loyal following and do very well in ticket sales. College basketball is much like Americancollegefootball, we watch the playoffs. Most of us played some basketball in high school. We're very proud of Nash, even people who don't follow the sport. He's such a good ambassador, unlike some of those spoiled headcases who (no disrespect intended) are American. He is a truly nice man who works hard with kids and charities and embodies the virtues we would like to see in ourselves. We are having a great year for Canadian MVP's. Justin Morneau - American League MVP. Joe Thorton - NHL MVP. Steve Nash - NBA MVP. A MVP in the NFL would give us a sweep!
I don't know a lot of basketball fans, but they do exist.

Certainly not as big as it is in the US. I don't think anyone followscollegebasketball, though, even if they do watch NBA.

Hockey and football really are the sports that are the most popular with fans here. :)
You wouldn't believe how popular Basketball is in Canada. The voice of the Toronto Raptors CHuck Swirsky gets so many eamils from all over Canada and the World. I still think that Football is the most popular sport among teenagers but Basketball is not far behind. If you want to go to Chuck Swirsky's blog I'll elave it in the source section.
Generally people don't follow it. Some do, which is funny because it comes from Canada. Mostly we are a hockey people, then there is the CFL, the Canadian Football League. It is like American football but with slightly different rules and a different sized statium. I mostly just like Hockey and Curling. Most people won't admit it but we like to watch curling.

Who is the greatest college basketball shooter of all time?

In my opinion it has to be JJ Redick. What's everyone else think?

Who is the greatestcollegebasketball shooter of all time?nba all star game

Definately Pistol Pete Maravich. I'd put Jerry West, Larry Bird and Rick Barry up near the top as well. Bit Pistol is #1.

Who is the greatestcollegebasketball shooter of all time?knicks ,nba teams

It is out of pistol Pete and JJ Redick. They both could shoot the ball from well past the three point line. I can't see any one else who were better.
I have to agree with everyone who names Pistol Pete Maravich, though Jerry West was also a very good pure shooter. JJ Redick wasn't even the best of his era - Adam Morrison was better.

Kobe and Lebron didn't even playcollegebasketball, so they don't even count.

If you don't believe me about Maravich, simply check out this link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_Maravi...

I believe he truly helped change the game of basketball to the more colorful game which it is today. He could shoot, pass, and dribble with a flair quite rare - even by today's standards.
Wayne Turner
Neither Telfair nor Stevenson playedcollegeball, either. Yeesh. Reddick? All-time?
Without question, Pistol Pete Maravich. He averaged 44 points per game over hiscollegecareer and that was before the 3-point line. Any other answer to this question would be absurd.
Glen Rice and Steve Alford shot a high percentage.
Either Lebron, Kobe, KG, Jermaine O'Neal, Sebastian Telfair, Shawn Livingston, all of those guys were great in college.
It has to be Pistol Pete Maravich with the help, of course, of his father/coach, Press Maravich. then there's Jerry West, Rick Barry, Larry Bird, Steve Alford, Redick %26amp; Morisson.

CHALLENGE: What is the college sports (basketball) movie from the 70's...?

that has the line at the end "you can take this and stick it up your *** with a red hot poker". It's the student player talking to the coach. It's been driving me nuts!

The movie involves howcollegesports players were getting away with everything...not going to class, getting paid $1000 a week to turn on the sprinkler system, etc. HELP!

I think the film that you are referring to is "One on One". Hope this is what you are looking for!

Strongest college conference in football, baseball, basketball, or any sport?

I say the ACC is the strongest conferance incollegesports. With schools that include Florida State, Miami, Virginia Tech, Boston College, North Carolina, Duke, NCST, GA Tech, and Clemson how could you go wrong? Both the men and women sports programs are strong in all arenas. Which conference do you think can even compete with the ACC overall and why?

Strongestcollegeconference in football, baseball, basketball, or any sport?nba draft picks

The Big Ten is the power conference:

Men's Basketball: Typically 7 to 8 strong make the NCAA Tournament each year. Indiana, Michigan State and Illinois are virtual locks every year. Few schools in the country can boast as many as 5 National Championships won by the Hoosiers. Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, Purdue, Ohio State and Minnesota all have impressive resumes. Consider the recruiting class that the Buckeyes have coming in for the 2006 season. Greg Oden...does any more need to be said?

Football: All out elite. Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State are always mentioned in anycollegefootball conversation. If you pick up any 2006 prediction magazine you will see Ohio State listed in the top 5 for winning the next title.

Men's Soccer: Indiana has won 7 National Championships. That says it all.

This is just a sampling of what I think easily shows that the Big Ten is, if nothing else, on par with the talent of the ACC.

Interesting baseball wasn't mention in the big ten answer...

Turns out the three main sports in the US are

Football/Basketball/Baseball

Without a doubt, the SEC puts up great chances to win everyone of these championships every year. Report It

Duke for basketball. Virginia Tech for football.
SEC enough said.
Are you guys serious. Its the WAC conference. Look at its name. Nuff said.

College Soccer or Basketball??

I am a junior to be in high school..I recently had a slight acl tear which resulted in me missing all of soccer season..i had played football my freshman year butt the football coach left so i thought i would give soccer a try..i played in a leauge during the spring and decided to give it a shot at the high school level..then i got tore my acl in a pickup basketball game..

the football coach wants me to come out and play and thinks he could get me into acollegesomewhere to play QB or even another skill position..i was an ok QB my freshman year but will most likely be backing up a senior QB this year unless i won the job..also im not guaranteed a starting position on the soccer squad..i like both sports butt alot of my really close friends play soccer but my older brother will be a senior on the football team as well..so that also factors in..

Does anybody have any wisdom or advice that they would be willing to share??

You need to make this decision on your own, its your choice and yours alone.

In your opinion who is the most overrated college basketball player of all time?

I have to go with Hansbourough on this one.

In your opinion who is the most overratedcollegebasketball player of all time?nba all star

I am going old school on you but I would say it was Sam Bowie. Who??? Sam Bowie, the man drafted one spot ahead of Micheal Jordan. Ouch. That set the Trailblazers back ten years. Hakeem Olajuwon was drafted ahead of Jordan too, but he did win two championships and was a very good player.

In your opinion who is the most overratedcollegebasketball player of all time?tickets ,nba teams

Elton Brand
Kwame Brown and Micheal Olowokandi. Both 1st picks. Both giant busts
Noah. The Bulls picked him up thinking he would be real good and I must say I think he sucks.
JJ Reddick hands down!!!
Patrick Ewing. Did win a title, but had a lot of big game chokes.
I like Tyler Hansborough...I would say Joakim Noah
